I'm Addicted!

On Thursday night I attended a coupon class with one of my coworkers. I walked away that night totally amazed at how much money you can save by using coupons.

Friday night I started printing off coupons and decided to give it a try, even though I wasn't very organized. Well, I didn't have the greatest experience. I clipped all kinds of coupons and really didn't have a plan. I went to Albertson's thinking that I could get some great deals with my coupons along with their "double coupon" that they would match up to $1.00. I was thinking that I would walk away with some great bargains that night. WRONG! I didn't have one thing in mind that was on sale at Albertson's and that I actually had a coupon for. I walked around to all of the items that I had coupons for and I was shocked by Albertson's prices. I walked out of the store probably 45 minutes later with nothing in my cart.

I then went over to Wal-Mart and did the same thing. I knew I wasn't going to get amazing deals with my coupons, but at least their prices would be lower than Albertson's.

This is what I got for $15.48:

I don't remember the exact prices, but I got the Pup-Peponi for $2.63 with a $1.50 coupon, and then a 50 cent peelie coupon, so it was 63 cents plus tax. No, I am not getting a puppy, but I thought that I might as well buy pet supplies when I can get them on sale and donate them to the animal shelter.

The chocolate chip cookie mix was originally $3.xx at Albertson's . I got mine for $1.56 with a 50 cent off coupon.

The tin foil was originally $1.52 and I had a $1.00 off coupon.

After Wal-Mart I went over to Target. These stores are all right next to each other, so I really didn't have to do much running around.

This is what I got at my Target stop:

I got all of this for $6.25.

With the yogurt I had two different coupons. One was a Target coupon that was save $1.00 when you buy 8, and MQ for buy six get 50 cents off. When I got home I noticed that I used the wrong MQ coupon and could have saved an extra 50 cents with a different coupon. I will just have to learn from my lesson and be more organized next time.

The Johnson Buddies soap bars for 97 cents each, and I got them all for free. I actually made 3 cents on each bar.

I got the drinks for 98 cents each, but today I noticed that I could have gotten the drinks for free if I would have taken the Smith’s ad into Target and had them match their price. I may do that later tonight to get free drinks. : )

When I got home I put away my groceries and I was excited to get more organized and see what kind of damage I could do the following day.

Guess how much I paid for these cute kitchen towels?

$0.65 for all of them. REALLY!

This morning I woke up and was really excited for my shopping trip. On Friday I purchased (20) $5 Kohl's gift certificates off of Ebay and paid $2.59 for all of them. I really wasn't 100% sure what these were, but thought I would try it out for $2.59. I received my coupons Saturday morning and thought that I would print 5 of them to see if they actually worked. I went to Kohl's first because I wasn't sure if they would only let me use one at a time. If so, then I would buy one or two items, leave do my other shopping, and then go back.

I walked into Kohl's and didn't even make it that far until I saw some cute Valentine's Day kitchen towels. They were originally $9.99 for two towels. They were 50% off, see the 50% off thing got me because I am a sucker for sales. I asked the cashier how many I could use right after the other and he said, "As many as I want." I purchased one towel and got out my wallet to get change for the tax. Guess what? I didn't have to pay tax. I guess because it is considered Kohl's cash or something. I was shocked. I then let the lady behind me purchase her items, because I didn't want to keep her waiting while I made my free crazy purchases. I got back in line and continued to buy my four other towels.

Here is my receipt showing that my total was zero for each towel. I was amazed that it actually worked. I came home today and ordered more coupons off of Ebay. Muhahahaha. I plan on going back and buying new dish clothes.

After my amazing Kohl's trip I headed over to Wal-Mart. I was more prepared this trip as to what I was going to get.

I got all of this for $2.84.

The cat food (which will be donated to the shelter) ended up costing me 18 cents a bag! I forgot to take off the peelie coupon on the dog treats to get an additional 50 cents off. Errrr. I will probably go back soon, so I will buy some more or get my 50 cents then. The tin foil was once again 52 cents + tax.

After Wal-Mart I went over to Smith's Market Place to purchase a few items that were on sale.

I got all of this for $37.18. The milk was $1.67 each, the grapes were 99 cents a pound, the pork chops were $1.89 a pound, and the chuck roasts were $1.99 a pound. I didn't use any coupons on this purchase, but found out what Smith's had on sale for the week.

I will have to admit that I am addicted to saving money now! I am excited to get more coupons, get organized, and save more money!

  2. Wow, that is way impressive. I love the towels. Tommy loves those dog treats, but I have never gotten them for that cheap. Did you go to Chris's wife's party, or another one? Are you going to have a coupon event still?

  3. Yeah, I went to Annalisa's coupon class. I think I am going to try it out for a little bit and then have a class at my house. Those treats are expensive!
